رأي الآخرين

كثيراً ما يسترشد الناس بآراء الآخرين فى قضاياهم، ما رأيك في هذا؟ تحدث عن قضية ما، أشار عليك الناس برأيهم حققت نجاحاً أو فشلاً
الإنسان الطبيعي دائماً يحب الهروب من مشاكله ومن واقعه الخاص و لا يريد المرء أن يغلب نفسه و يقرر أشياء لنفسه وأن يحاول أن يجد حل لمشكلة يمر بها، الإنسان كسول
أعرف أحيانا إن الشخص يحتاج صديقاً أو زميلاً ما لكي يساعده و يسمع مشاكله، فيخفف الشخص عن قلبه الثقيل وهمومه ، بعض الناس يقولون عقلين أحسن من عقل ، ولكن كيف يعرف الشخص ما يمر به المهموم؟
جاء رجل يدعى أحمد الى صديقه ماجد وقال: "يا ماجد، زوجتي خانتني، ماذا أفعل؟ هل أطلقها؟ ولكنني لازلت أحبها ". ماجد لا يعرف ما يمر به أحمد، فإرشاده سيكون " نعم، طلقها ". ماجد لا يستطيع أن يتصور أن يضع نفسه بمكانه ويساعده على قرار الطلاق. حتى لو قال له ماجد أن يطلقها، أحمد لن يسمعه لأن احمد سيسمع ما يريد أن يسمع، فهذا ما يفعله الإنسان
عندما كنت صغيرة، تشاجرت مع أختي على سبب سخيف وتافه، ولمدة أيام لم أتحدث معها ولم أتأسف بالرغم من أنني كنت أعرف إنني مخطئة. ذهبت الى الكثير من صديقاتي وحكيت لهم ما حدث بيني وبين أختي، وكان الكل يقول لي أن عليّ أن أتأسف. كنت أغضب عندما كانوا يقولون هذا لأنني أردت أن أسمع " لا سمر، لا تتأسفي، أختك هي المخطئة". استرشادهم كان فيه بركة ولكنني لم أسمع لأن كلامهم لم يعجبني . بعد مرور الأيام أدركت بنفسي أنني كنت مخطئة وتأسفت. أنا الوحيدة التي أستطيع أن أقرر مثل هذه الأمور، فهي تتعلق بي وليست بأصدقائي. أنا التي يجب عليّ أن أتحكم بمصيري وليس أصدقائي
برأيي لو أراد المرء أن يستشير أحد، يجب أن يستشير الله. كما نعرف الله هو الرشيد، ولا يجوز لشخص أن يسمى بالرشيد، فقط بعبد الرشيد. القرآن يستطيع إن ينسيك همومك ويساعدك على قرارات مهمة. كل إنسان يعيش حياة مختلفة ويفكر تفكير مختلف عن غيره فهو الوحيد الذي يستطيع أن يقوم بقرارات مهمة

Habibi

The setting of Habibi affects the way Liyana acts, but when she doesn’t like some aspects of the culture she acts as an individual. At the beginning of the story, when Liyana was packing to travel to Palestine, she wanted to take her “short” shorts with her. Her father didn’t allow it, and the setting and culture of Palestine forced her to change the way she dresses. Also, because of Palestine being an Arab speaking country, Liyana started learning Arabic. If she didn’t learn some Arabic,it would’ve been hard for her to live there. Finally, Liyana became friends with a Jewish boy,which was against her culture.She didn’t like that unwritten rule so she acted as she would have been in the US. As a result of that she kissed him and developed romantic feelings towards him.

On Siblings' Bereavement

"How is your mom doing?''
Is the basic question asked.
Sometimes an inquiry about Dad.
But so sadly seldom,
They do not ask the siblings.
They must be so sad.
True the depth of parents' awful loss
Brings agony and pain.
But the children,the dear children
Really do hurt again and again.
They lost a brother or a sis
Their pain is just as real
Frustration,anger and fear
They,too go through such hell.
Who is there to comfort them
To give a word of care
Everyone is more concerned
About the parents' welfare.
While the siblings
Down in their hurt and pain
No one to hold them near
And let them know they are not to blame.
To uplift and ease their minds from fear.

Voccab Paragraph

As I walked through the stores of the old Islamic country, I saw all the fabulous mosques with their amazing minarets. One thing was clear to me, society and religion worked together in unison. As I looked up to the sky and saw the halo glistening, all I could think about was how beautiful the world was. A musty smell interrupted my train of thoughts and I turned around to see a man dressed in white holding a pot of geranium. He started running and I ran after him veering my way through the alleys. Then he disappeared. Who was that guy who selfishly interrupted my train of thoughts?

And Yet This Happened to Me

I took motherhood so seriously.
I took nothing for granted.
I was always thankful
for what I had.
And yet this happened to me.

I chose to stay with them,
live through their lives closely,
put my own aspirations
on hold 'til they'd grown.
And still,this happened to me.

My life was spent caring
for two lovely daughters
who made my life special
in so many ways.

One day she was living,
alive,well and thriving.
The nextshe was gone
to a life we can't share.

I'm learning to struggle
through life and the grieving,
to find ways of being
that bring wholeness and peace,
and live with what happened to me.

Juliet’s Diary

In two weeks from today is my 14th birthday, and I have already received the greatest present of all. I have received love! I am in love with an amazing man, Romeo. The only problem is that he’s a Montague; Monatgues are our family’s arch enemies. How do they expect me to have someone so full of love? When I see him, my heart melts and becomes a puddle of love. To love him in secret is better than not to love him at all. Tomorrow I will vow my love to him, and hopefully he will too.

صف موقفاً كنت فيه إنساناً مظلوماً أو عادلاً


في يوم من الأيام ذهبت إلى السيرك لأشاهد القرد العبقري شيب . عندما وصلت إلى السيرك سمعت أن شيب قد هرب
بعد ما سمعت عن هذا الخبر الحزين، حملت حقيبتي التي كانت أثقل مما كانت عليه من قبل، وذهبت إلى السوبر ماركت لأشتري طعاماً. وضعت الكثير من الأشياء في العربة، و عندما وصلت إلى المحاسب، دفعت لأغراضي، وعندما ذهبت بين البوابة المغناطيسية بدأ الجهاز المغنطيسي يدق. أومأت العاملة إلي كأنني مجرمة وقالت إنني ابتدرت. ذهبت معها إلى مكتب الأمن وفتحت حقيبتي، ووجدنا بداخلها شيب يأكل الأكل المسروق. لم أعرف ماذا أقول! وضعوني في السجن مع شيب المجرم. وقالوا إن قضيتنا بعد ساعة. جاءني الشرطي بعد ساعة وقال لي: يا أمة الله احضري إلى مجلس الخصوم حالاً. ذهبنا إلى مجلس الخصوم وحكيت قصتي، فأطرق القاضي لمدة طويلة
حكم القاضي بأن أدفع ثمن الأغراض وأرجع شيب للسيرك. لم استطع أن أرجع شيب فاشتريته، وأصبح شيب من أعز أصدقائي. لن أنسى هذه القضية للأبد، ولن ينساها شيب

Forum: Human Rights Council
Issue: Reducing the costs of life saving medicine
Submitted by: France *

Deeply concerned about the harsh lifestyles some citizens lead,

Deeply conscious of each individual’s right to live and thus stating that this right should be preserved,

Emphasizing the fact that lives are being lost around the world due to lack of access to affordable drugs,

Aware of the fact that pharmaceutical companies are business organizations looking for profit,

Noting with deep concern that a significant amount of individuals in underdeveloped nations, such as those on the African continent, are losing their lives to Aids;

Declaring that human life is more important than profit,

Convinced that in the long run, the international community as a whole will be better of because by giving the sick access to medication, it will prevent the disease from spreading

Noting with satisfaction that generic drugs are identical, or bioequivalent to a brand name drug in dosage form, safety, strength, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics and intended use,

1. Calls upon pharmaceutical companies to lower the prices of life saving medicine;

2. Requests for capable governments, business organizations, the UN, etc. to subsidize pharmaceutical companies in order to make up for their losses;

3. Encourages both the production and selling of cheaper generic drugs;

4. Further invites governments to launch media campaigns promoting the use of generic drugs in order for it to be clear to citizens that these drugs are safe;

5. Emphasizes the need for aid to be given to under developed countries in order for their governments to deal with such issues accordingly;
Aid could be given through the form of:
a) Donations
b) Loans

6.Urges countries and organizations to donate food and drink to the diseases, because it helps keep their immune system strong. Dehydration from diarrhea is still one of the leading causes of death in underdeveloped countries, and thus by having access to clean drinking water their lives could be elongated;

7. Encourages nations in promoting the use of alternative medicine,

8. Recommends the creation of emotional support organizations, because part of the healing process is emotional;

9. Notes that although medical supplies are limited, supplies such as injections should not be used on more than one patient because that will just cause the disease to spread;

10. Reminds nations that as it is important to solve problems, it is also important to prevent them. Thus, together the education facilities, media, and governments can work together to spread awareness on various diseases;

11. Further recommends
that contraceptives such as condoms should be distributed and be easily available in order to prevent sexually transmitted diseases;

12. Calls upon nations to encourage its citizens to take blood tests in order for every citizen to be aware of the disease he/she carries;

13. Reaffirms the need of a mass media campaign to spread awareness on fatal contagious diseases;

14. Recommends bulk buying, this involves several countries getting together to make purchases of HIV Aids treatments, this will help to reduce prices in the countries;

15. Urges pharmaceutical companies to sell their drugs directly to WHO, and the WHO will distribute the drugs accordingly;

16. Resolves that the WHO creates distribution pipe lines, this involves taking surplus medicines from developed countries and distributing them to people in underdeveloped countries in need

Mothers Day

Mothers Day has become so incomplete
As it emphasizes your empty seat

It comes and triggers tremendous pain
As you will never celebrate it with me again

The excitement you used to have when it arrives
Remains a cherished memory all our lives

You woke up early in your special way
To wish me a Happy Mothers Day

You gave me a present that you carefully chose
And placed a carnation on my food tray or a rose

I ask the Lord to help me this day survive
The heartache that it brings since you are not alive

I am helpless and there is nothing much I can do
Except enjoy the memories I shared with you

Thank you Lord for the love I always get
From my children who remember and never forget

The tremendous pain that everyday I am enduring
The fact that they understand is comforting and reassuring

I appreciate all the compassion and love that they give
My three are the dearest of all as long as I live

Account for the final success of the Communists over the Guomindang despite efforts by the Americans to intervene.

The unification of the Communists and the Guomindang against the common enemy, Japan, in 1937 was not strong enough to prevent civil war between the two leading political parties. No one would have predicted the victory of the Communists due to the many advantages the Guomindang had over them. The United States desperately did not want the Communists to seize control of China, thus it assisted the Guomindang in several ways in order to help them gain control over the Communists. Firstly, it provided them with military equipment and weapons. For instance, the United States Air Force organized an airlift using highly sophisticated C-54 planes in order to fly the finest Guomindang troops to key Chinese cities such as Nanjing, Shanghai, and Beijing. By gaining access to these cities, the Guomindang was able to control almost half the cities in Manchuria as well as other cities. The Guomindang were also assisted financially, for they had received 200 million dollars from the U.S. Also, the large American equipped Guomindang army was highly trained by the U.S. In addition to U.S. interference, the Guomindang had a larger army than the Communists, and it held all the big cities and main railways, while the Communists were a weak force that controlled only country side areas. Thus it came as a surprise to many, that the Communists emerged victorious.

Although the Guomindang were advancing, to the extent that they captured the Communist capital of Yanan, they lacked something the communists had-Lin Bao as a leader. The Communist party (later known as the People’s Liberation Army), approached new methods of warfare. They began to focus their attention to guerilla warfare, an alternative that seemed attractive in comparison to their previous techniques. Guerilla warfare consisted of night raids against Guomindang bases, destructing railway lines, ambushing patrols, and other types of unconventional forms of attack. By using such methods, the PLA were able to control much of central and northern China, forcing the Guomindang to go on the defensive. As the Communists acquired more land, its members grew, due to the extensive amount of peasants who began to join the Communists, due to the attractiveness of Communist policies concerning land and loans.

The economic conditions in the Guomindang held cities began to worsen greatly, for rapid inflation was destroying the purchasing power of the consumer. Not only did consumption decrease, but so did labor, due to the amount of strikes held. In addition, many turned to robbery as an alternative to the high prices. As a result of the bad conditions within Guomindang held cities, many began to turn to the Communists. The Guomindang’s grasp on its people began to loosen and it had to turn to its Blue Shirts to keep the order. But there was no use; the Guomindang itself was growing weaker as a political party.

In 1947, the United States recognized the weakness and coming collapse of the Guomindang, thus it cut off all aid, weakening the Guomindang position even further. At this point the PLA was large enough to abandon its guerilla tactics and turned to attacking tactics. In 1948, the Guomindangs and the PLA had the ultimate face off at the Battle of Huai-Hai, which led to the loss of more than half a million Guomindang troops and equipment. This defeat allowed the PLA to move freely, which led them to capture Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Finally, in October 1949, the Communists proclaimed the existence of a new, different China-the People’s Republic of China.

A nightmarish dream


Last night I dreamt of my son
A nightmarish dream I believe
Its been 17 months and a while
Since he was gone at 41

In the dream, Haas, 3 years old
Fearful, tearful
His body stretched tensely
Around my neck his hands held harshly
His small legs trying to reach around me
He held tightly, glued to me firmly

The dream was true, he was alive
I hushed his cries
I wiped his tears
We were one, he and I
A circle of bodies clamped together
Against the cruel and the unjust

They tried to pull him away
But could not divide
They tried to push us apart
But we were still one part
They had to strip off my skin
that was the only way.
For son and mom to split
To take him away
Wrapped in his mother’s membrane

The pain was great
I was awake.

الفشل

الفشل مرّ وقهـر.. ولكنه طريق الى النجاح، كيف؟ أورد حالة فشل مرت بك وكادت ان تحبطك، لولا إرادتك وعزيمتك
الفشل يحطم معنويات المرء ولكن يرفعها مرة ثانية. الفشل يجعلك ان تشعر بأنك إنسان تافه بلا قيمة، ولكن بعدما تتعلم من أخطائك، تشعر بأنك نضجت وأصبحت أفضل. الفشل ليس فقط فى مجال الدراسة والعمل، بل في كل أمور الحياة. فإنني فشلت كصديقة
كوني طالبة البكالوريا الدولية، لدي الكثير من العمل والدراسة، لدرجة أن أحياناً أعيش في عالم لوحدي من كثرة العمل. نتيجة من العمل الهائل، أحياناً لا أرى كل صديقاتي ولا يوجد عندي وقت لأتصل بهن وأسألهن عن حالهن. قبل أسابيع قليلة، كنت مشغولة جداً، لحد أنني شعرت بأن لا يوجد وقت لآتنفس فيه، فلم أسأل عن صديقتي ليــال كثيراً. كنت أراها أحياناً فى المدرسة، ولاحظت ان الحياة قد اختفت من وجهها، ولكن أقنعت نفسي إنها على ما يرام وربما كانت تمر بيوم سيئ. مرت الأيام والأسابيع، ولم يوجد عندي الوقت لأمضيه معها. استمرت هذه الحالة لبضعة أيام، ولكن فى يوم واحد كل شيء تغير. أتت إلي ليـال والدموع تسيل من عينيها باستمرار، فكانت شاحبة اللون واضعف. خفت وسألتها ما بها، فقالت لي كل شيء، قالت لي: "يا سمر، فى هذه الأسابيع الماضية كنت أبكي كل يوم، فأنني فى حالة إكتئاب شديدة. توقفت عن الأكل ولجأت للتدخين للمساعدة، فأنني شعرت بالوحدة وظننت ان لا أحد يهتم بي. أنا آسفة انني قلت لك كل هذا الآن. ولكن احتجت إن أتحدث معك!" انفجرت في البكاء، وأبكتني "معها ، فضممتها الى صدري وهمست في أذنيها، " إنني هنا الآن ضممتها ، لن أرحل وأتركك وحيده ؟
ذهبت الى البيت ذلك اليوم بحالة تعتبر إحباط شديدة, فأنني فشلت كصديقة. كنت مندمجة فى دراستي لحد أنني نسيت عن صديقتي المفضلة. أنني رأيت مظاهر الاكتئاب على وجهها ولكن لم اعتقد ان المسألة خطيرة !! لم أعطِ صديقتي بعض من وقتي لكي أسألها عن حالها وأزيل عنها ألم الوحدة المرة. كانت صديقتي بحاجة لي، ولكنني كنت عمياء. فاهتممت بمصلحتي ونفسي ونسيت صديقتي الغالية
بعد لوم نفسي والبكاء على تصرفاتي، بدأت بالتفكير. كيف يستطيع البكاء أن يساعدني؟ صديقتي بحاجة إلي، فعلي ان أمد لها يدي وأساعدها. فشلي كصديقة جعلني استيقظ من سباتي العميق، فأراني المشاكل التي تمر بها صديقتي، فبدأت أتصل بها بالتزام، واقضي الكثير من وقتي معها لكي أظهر لها استعدادي لمساعدتها، معاً استطعنا ان نأتي بحلول لمشاكلها. الآن صديقتي ليست في حالة اكتئاب وأصبحت تقول لي ما كانت تخفيه عني قلبها الثقيل من قبل. لو لم أفشل لم أستطع بمساعدة صديقتي، ففشلي أظهر لي حالتها النفسية. ففشلي كان مثل الساعة التي أيقظتني من سباتي العميق فشلي كان وسيلتي لمساعدتها، فأحمد الله سبحانه وتعالى على هذه التجربة لأنني أشعر الآن بأنني أصبحت صديقة مهتمة بصديقاتها
هذه التجربة غيرتني، فأعرف الآن أن مهما كان لدي من العمل ، عليّ أن امضي وقت مع الشخصيات الرئيسية في حياتي، فهم قد يمرون بأوقات صعبة. تعلمت أيضاً أن أشارك في عالمنا الحقيقي ولأعيش في عالم يدور حلو العمل والدراسة

Field Trip

Mrs K. just came in Ms. M.'s class announcing to the people in her advertising class that tomorrow is our field trip in an advertising agency. Well, I’m in her advertising class and I’m really excited. I am thinking along the career of advertising, so I am anxious to see what goes on in an agency. I think we are going to this advertising agency called Fortune Promo7. We will leave at the 4th period tomorrow and could possibly come back at 6th period. How convenient!

To work in advertising is such an interesting job, because it is the art of brain washing. I hope I have fun tomorrow and not be disappointed in what I see.

أعد بناء قصة السندباد البحري بكلماتك،مبديا رأيك في الأحداث و الشخصيات

السندباد هو عراقي من بغداد ، كان فقيرا ثم أصبح غنيا من التجارة البحرية. للسندبا د مغامرات بحرية مشوقة كثيرة ،وهو من أعظم الشخصيات في الأدب العربي. في بداية مغامرة سندباد الرائعة، التقى بأصدقائه، وكانوا يتحدثون عن مغامراتهم السابقة، فقرروا القيام برحلة بحرية أخرى
استعدوا للسفر ،ركبوا السفينة،وهكذا بدأت رحلتهم. في طريقهم هبت عاصفة هائلة، فاندفعوا في مياه البحر، وقد انكسرت السفينة إلى قطع صغيرة، فكل واحد منهم مسك بقطعة من خشب السفينة وسبح إلى شاطئ جزيرة. لقد ناموا من التعب ،وعند استيقاظهم رأوا قوما بشعين يأكلون الناس،فأخذوا التجار لكي يأكلوهم ،ولكن نجا السندباد منهم،وركب سفينة أخذته إلى جزيرة قوم طيبين. عاش السندباد هناك لفترة طويلة ،وتزوج واحدة منهم وفي يوم من الأيام ماتت زوجته ، وعند هؤلاء القوم عادة إذا ماتت الزوجة يجب أن يدفن الزوج معها حيا! فأخذوا السندباد إلى كهف الموتى لكي يدفنوه ،ولكنه نجا . رأى حيوانا يشبه ثعلبا داخل الكهف، فاستنتج أنه إذا دخل الحيوان يجب أن يكون هناك دخلة، فربط عنق الحيوان بحبل وتبعه السندباد إلى المخرج وخرج. كان مسعدا لترك الجزيرة، ولكنه تذكر أن هنالك جواهر داخل الكهف، فرجع وأخذها. ركب السفينة ورجع إلى بغداد ووزع الجواهر على الفقراء والمحتاجين ،وفرح أهله برجوعه كثيرا
لقد أعجبتني القصة كثيرا كما أعجبتني الشخصيات مثل ملك القوم الطيبين ،فكان طيبا وكريما.والسندباد كان شجاعا وكريما جدا لأنه وزع على المحتاجين والفقراء

The Incomplete

There is no joy with the start of a new day
Things are incomplete no matter what you say
My daughter is gone, Oh God why did I have to stay?
I should have gone before her! She should have been alive today
This is what I learnt as the rules of the play

How can a mother outlive her child?
It is something unimaginable, beyond anybody’s mind
My family is incomplete since my daughter died
And my tears cannot bring her back, no matter how much I cried
How can life ever be the same when she is on the other side?

This loss is the ultimate loss that no one can describe
With no limit to its grief, no line to circumscribe
There is no medicine for it that doctors can prescribe
It is engraved in the mother’s eyes, no need for anyone to inscribe
”Loss of a child”, no language will ever be able to transcribe

""أكتب موضوعا حرا من وحي أفكارك "وصف يوم إجازة عجيبة غريبة

استيقظت ظهرا وقفزت من السرير.آه...لقد أحسست أنه سيكون يوما جميلا.لبست ثيابي بسرعة وركضت على المطبخ وشربت عصير البرتقال الطازج. آه ....كم ضيعت من الوقت الثمين
قبلت أمي وركضت من البيت إلى السيارة حيث ذهبت مع السائق لأصطحب صديقتي لطيفة. بعد اصطحابها ذهبنا إلى البحر ،وهناك التقينا بأصحابنا الآخرين .ركبت" الجتسكي"وانطلقت في البحر أصرخ وأضحك من الفرح. قمنا بأشياء مرحة جدا في البحر مثل صيد السمك، السباحة الخ. بعد هذا ذهبنا إلى السينما ورأينا فيلما عجيبا جدا.بعد ذلك نظرت على الساعة ، وكانت الساعة التاسعة مساء، فقررت الاتصال بأمي لكي تطمئن علي ،وقالت لي: " سمر أسرعي إلى المطار مع لطيفة كلنا سنذهب إلى اسبانيا ." ذهبنا بأسرع وقت ممكن وركبنا الطائرة. وصلنا اسبانيا بوقت لم يتجاوز عشر دقائق
قفزت من السرير ونظرت إلى الساعة ،كانت الساعة السابعة صباحا .كان هذا اليوم الممتع حلما وكان علي الذهاب إلى المدرسة .........لا....لا

Should the Christian Man and the Muslim Woman Get Married?

We were presented with a moral dilemma, and after consulting emotion, religion, culture, and reasoning, we have come to the conclusion that they should not get married.

Naturally, emotion will tell the two that that should get married, because they think that they are in love. But at the same time, the two have strong emotions towards their family, so their love for their family will tell them not to get married.

As for religion and culture, they strongly forbid the union of the two. It is not allowed by Islamic Law for a Muslim woman to wed a Christian, thus their marriage will not be tolerated. Religion plays a significant role in shaping the ideals and morals of a culture, therefore culture will not tolerate the marriage as well.

They make each other happy, therefore they should get married according to reasoning, because people should pursue happiness. On the other hand, if they decide to get married, society and family will shun them, and the two will have no sense of belonging, creating an identity crisis. In this instance, reasoning dictates that they should not get married.

أعد كتابة قصة بلسان الببغاء

أنا والببغاء

القطة سوداء الصدر، قرنفلية الأنف، وعيناها زرقاوان. تعيش على خير ما يكون الصديق لصديقة. عندما صاحبها ينام هي تنم بالقرب منه، عندما يجلس على كرسي هي تجلس عليه متكئه، عندما يمشي فى الحديقة هي تمشي خلفه، وعندما هو يأكل تزاحم بينه وبين لقمته

أحضرني صاحبي جيمس الى بيتها، وشعرت بأنني غريب لأن القطة كانت تنظر إلي كأنني كائن غريب أمامها
كانت تتربصني القطة تربصاً دقيقاً، ترى كل شيء أفعله، لم أفهم لماذا كانت تراقبني، هل أرادت أن تأكلني؟

بدأت أشعر بالخوف الشديد، ماذا تريد مني القطة؟ كنت أنا أيضاً أراقبها لأعرف ماذا ستفعل. فجأة هجمت علي القطة، كانت مخالبها تنقبض وتنبسط وكانت النظرة على وجهها كأنها ستأكلني، لم أعرف ماذا أفعل

وأول شيء خطر فى بالي أني قلت: " هل أفطرت يا جيمس ؟" عندما قلت هذه الجملة كانت القطة خائفة جداً، لا أستطيع وصف نظرة وجهها عندما تكلمت. تفاجأت وكأن طبولاً دقت، وطلقات نارية دوت، وصحافاً كسرت. وركضت القطة واختبأت فى سرير صاحبها الى اليوم الثاني. فى اليوم الثاني خرجت القطة من غرفة صاحبها، وهجمت عليّ مرة ثانية ولكنها لاقت فى يومها ما لاقته فى أمسها. شعرت بالفرح لأنني انتصرت على القطة، أنا أصغر من القطة وانتصرت على القطة، مستحيل! قررت القطة أن تعاملني كإنسان صغير لأنني أصغر حجماً من صاحبها ولكن أتكلم مثله

هناك حيوانات مهدده بالانقراض، تحدث عنها، وعن أسباب تعرضها لذلك، وطرق حمايتها

لكل كائن حي أهمية على الأرض ويبين الله هذا في دورة الحياة. النبات يتغذى عن طريق الشمس والحيوانات تأكل ذلك النبات ونحن نأكل الحيوانات لو حصل أي شئ يغير هذه الدورة الكل سيدفع الثمن
يوجد الكثير من الحيوانات التي أصبحت معرضة للانقراض في وقتنا الحاضر فمنها : الباندا والغوريلا وأيضا الفيل .الباندا تتواجد في غابات الصين وبلدان أخرى في شرق آسيا ،والنمر يتواجد في غابات الهند ، و الغوريلا في غابات إفريقيا الممطرة ،والفيل في إفريقيا و آسيا. لو نحمي هذه الحيوانات وغيرها المعرضة للانقراض فسنستفيد نحن أيضا. حماية الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض لها فائدة جمالية ، فعندما تمتلئ الدنيا بالحيوانات سيكون المنظر جميلا جدا. مثلا الذي يجمل المناطق الصحراوية حيواناتها مثل الظبي والأرنب الخ. لو تلك الحيوانات لم تكن موجودة فالصحراء لا تساوي شيئا وأيضا حماية الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض لها فائدة اقتصادية ،فالكثير من السياح يذهبون إلى بلد ليروا الحيوانات فقط التي تتواجد في تلك البلدة ،ويزورون حدائق الحيوانات، فعدم وجود الحيوانات سيؤثر في اقتصاديات البلدة. ولها فائدة علمية أيضا، فنحن نقوم باختبارات وبحوث كثيرة على الحيوانات، لكي نختبر دواء، منتجات الخ.فنحن سنرجع للخلف بدلا من الأمام لعدم وجود الحيوانات. وأخيرا لها فائدة البقاء، فلو لم يكن هناك حيوانات كيف سنتغذى، فكلنا سنأكل النبات وكل النبات سينتهي، ونحن بحاجة إلى اللحوم. أسباب تعرض الحيوانات للانقراض كثيرة وهي: الصيد ،الكل يصيد الحيوانات كهواية أو لكسب الطعام ،وأصبح الصيد أسهل بكثير لوجود البندقية ،فعندما نصيد الكثير من الحيوانات يموت الكثير من الحيوانات التي تعيش في الغابات ،فنحن نقطع الأشجار لبناء البيوت أو صنع الأوراق الخ فالكثير من الحيوانات تخسر بيوتها والطعام فتقتل. وأيضا تحدث الحرائق في الغابات فتموت الحيوانات التي تعيش هناك.قتل الحيوانات لأخذ فروهم أصبح شيئا عاديا فيلبسها الأغنياء، وأيضا تقتل لأخذ أجزاء جسم الحيوان لكي يبيعوها مثل الفيل فيقتلونه لأخذ أنيابه للحصول على العاج. نستطيع أن نحمي الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض بوضع قوانين لعدم الصيد والذي يصيد يجب أن يدفع غرامة. وأيضا انتشار محميات طبيعية في كل أنحاء العالم لكي تعيش الحيوانات هناك
أقترح على الجميع أن لا يصيدوا الحيوانات إلا لو اضطررنا وأن ننشر الوعي للرفق بالحيوان، وعدم صيدها.نصحنا الإسلام بالرفق بالحيوان لأنه الصديق العزيز للإنسان، فيجب أن نقتدي بالرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام ونساعد الحيوانات ونرفق بهم

Hero Journal Entry

This particular incident happened a few years before I was born. My eldest brother was swimming in his friend's pool; he was about two years old. Obviously, my mother was there. My brother still did not know how to swim, so he swam with "floaties". My mother thought that my brother had enough of swimming, so she took him out of the pool and removed his "floaties". After a while, my brother jumped into the pool and started to drown. My mother saw him and jumped into the pool fully clothed and saved him. She was not even a good swimmer, because she never learned how to swim.

I miss you my son

Its been 14 months since you were gone
I miss you painfully my son it is hard to describe
I miss so many things about you I cannot but weep and howl

I miss your gentle voice calling me Hi mom
And telling me about your next arriving flight
I miss the joy engulfing me whenever I hear you were
to come and visit for a while
I miss your delightful news of places near and far
I miss your youthful energy in the house doing many things in a glance
I miss seeing you in my kitchen cooking our meals with a big smile
I miss you, miss you my son

I miss the scent of your soap after your bath
I miss seeing the light under your door at night
I miss our walks together by the railway line
I miss seeing you in the passenger seat beside me driving you happily
to the gym, to the station or to the farmer’s market
or just driving in the fields around.

I look at the empty passenger seat sometimes
and sigh with sorrow deep in my heart
I see you sitting beside me
I see your wide smile, your dreamy eyes and sense your tender love
You were always patient with your mom’s driving
You were always tolerant with your mom’s cooking
and often said “Mom I’ll cook dinner tonight”

I miss your strong arms helping me carry the shopping all the time
I miss your strength in carrying heavy loads to the loft without toil
I miss our little journeys to the second hand stores to distribute bundles of clothes
I’ll have to go soon and distribute your belongings to the charity shops alone
I miss your vigour in doing all the tough gardening jobs during summertime
I miss you painfully my son, I love you greatly.

I don’t know how to bring you back to my life.
You were my life and when you were gone the life in me dried and died
I can’t find a way out of all that
I just long for you all the time and can’t think of anything except you my son
I cry, sob and shed tons of tears that cannot dry
I call your name at night and dream of happier times

وصل السفير اللبناني إلى فنلندا، لكي يتسلم عمله في فنلندا. ووجد السفير اللبناني رئيس المراسم الفنلندي في استقباله في المطار
في طريقهما إلى الفندق عرض رئيس المراسم مشكلته على السفير قائلا :"من عاداتنا في فنلندا أن نعزف النشيد الوطني لبلد السفير و النشيد الوطني الفنلندي وللأسف لا نعرف النشيد الوطني اللبناني ،فهل بإمكانك مساعدتي؟" و لم يعرفوا النشيد الوطني اللبناني لسبب واحد هو أن هذه المرة الأولى التي تنشأ فيها العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين فنلندا و لبنان. فقال السفير لرئيس المراسم إنه يستطيع مساعدته، فمن الصعب عليه أن يرفض شيئا بسبب عمله كسفير. فاتفق السفير و رئيس المراسم أن رئيس عازفي فرقة الجيش سيأتي لكي يعلمه السفير النشيد الوطني اللبناني. عندما وصل الضابط كان من الصعب أن يعلمه السفير نشيد بلاده، ولكن قال رئيس المراسم أن لغة الموسيقى لغة عالمية.فبدأ السفير بالغناء وتحريك يديه والترنم، وكان يسجلها الضابط على النوتة وبعد تعب وإرهاق علمه النشيد الوطني اللبناني. عندما جاء موعد تسليم أوراق اعتماده سمع النشيد الوطني الفنلندي، ولكن بعد قليل حضر إليه رئيس المراسم وسأله إذا أحب النشيد الوطني اللبناني وقال إن الضابط موهوب، فتعجب السفير ورد عليه:" جدا جدا." وضحك في داخله بطريقة خاطئة ،ولإنه قد ظن أنه سمع النشيد الوطني الفنلندي، ولكنه سمع النشيد الوطني اللبناني
لم أحب هذه القصة لأنني شعرت بأنها سخيفة وغير ضرورية، ولم تكن مضحكة لي، بل كانت مملة. ولم تعجبني شخصية السفير ،لأنه يصعب الأمور ولم يتصرف تصرفا ذكيا،بل كان بإمكانه الاتصال بالموسيقيين في لبنان فيعطيه أحدهم النوتة. لم أحب رئيس المراسم كثيرا، ولكنه كان لطيفا رغم أنه ضغط على السفير

George and Lennie Companionship

One mutual benefit in George and Lennie’s somewhat complicated relationship is companionship. Both George and Lennie have no home, they are constantly on the go, away from their families, and are always on the search for new jobs. These harsh living factors lead people to loneliness and misery. But George and Lennie travel, live, and work together. This makes their uneasy lifestyle a little bit easier. Sometimes you just need to know that someone is with you. Sometimes just hearing someone else breathing beside you makes you feel a little better, for misery loves company. Knowing that your partner is going through the same hardships you are going through, makes it a little less stressful. “Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place. They come to a ranch an’ work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know they’re pounding their tail on some other ranch. They ain’t got nothing to look ahead to (pg 13).” Even though George might get irritated with Lennie’s slow wit, and Lennie with George’s temper, they both need each other. They might not like each other’s companionship, but they need it.

أكتب قصة تعرضت لها وكان للشمس فيها تأثير، ذاكراً مشاعرك

في صغري، ذهبت إلى دبي وسكنت في فندق جميرا. الشخصيات الرئيسية في قصتي أنا وأخي، أختي. والشخصيات الثانوية هي أمي والرجل الذي يعمل في الفندق
ذهبنا في الصباح الباكر لنسبح، فسبحنا في البحر لوقت طويل . كنا سنذهب إلى حفلة بعد السباحة وكنا مسرعين للذهاب هناك. تبللنا كثيراً فأسرعنا لحقيبتنا لنحضر المناشف ولكن عندما فتحنا الحقيبة لم نجد المناشف
"قالت أختي: " ماذا سنفعل؟
"قال أخي: " لنذهب إلى الفندق، ماما وبابا سيعطوننا المناشف عندما نذهب إلى الغرفة
قلت: " أيها المجنون، هل تظن إنهم سيدخلوننا عندما نحن مبللون بماء البحر، وسنبرد كثيراً من المكيف "ونصبح مرضى
" أجاب: " هيا، لنجرب حظنا
ذهبنا إلى الفندق ولكن الرجل الذي يعمل هناك قال لنا: " يا صغار أنا متأسف، ولكن انتم مبللون لا أستطيع أن أدخلكم ولا أستطيع أن أعطيكم مناشف لأن ليس عندي دليل إنكم تسكنون هنا
وصدمنا عندما سمعنا كلامه ، فقال أخي بعدما تركنا الفندق: " هيا نجلس في الشمس لمدة ربع ساعة أو أكثر "ونجرب حظنا، بإمكاننا أن نتعرض للجفاف
" !قلنا أنا وأختي: " نعم، هيا
جلسنا في الشمس الرائعة التي كانت ساخنة جداً وهناك كنت ألاحظ الشمس بدقة وتذكرت إن الشمس كالمربي الحكيم تقسو وترحم وتشتد وتلين وأحياناً تحتجب عندما تغطيها الغيوم، وأحياناً أخرى تكون أشعة الشمس قوية جداً فتبهر عيوننا. جلسنا في الشمس وأحسست وكأن جلدي يحترق، فنظرت إليه و إذ أنني أصبحت سمراء
تعرضنا للجفاف وذهبنا إلى الفندق ورآنا الرجل ودخلنا ورأتنا أمي وأخذتنا إلى الغرفة. قلنا لأمي القصة، وقالت: "الشمس مفيدة أحياناً، ولكن أحياناً سيئة فانظروا إلى أنفسكم، أصبحتم سمر"
شعرت بأننا سخفاء لأننا لو أتصلنا بأمي كنا دخلنا الفندق وما جلسنا في الشمس وأصبحنا سمر

اختار موضوعاً يعجبك وأكتب عنه، ذاكراً مشاعرك

في عطلة صيف العام الماضي ذهبت إلى مدينة نيويورك في الولايات المتحدة وحدي، لأقضي وقتاً جميلاً وأزور مبنى الإمباير المشهور لأول مره. الشخصيات الرئيسية في القصة شخصية واحدة هي أنا، والشخصيات الثانوية هم صديقي خالد ورجال الحريق
استيقظت باكراً يوماً ما، وقررت الذهاب إلى مبنى الإمباير، لأنني كنت متشوقة للذهاب إليه وركبت سيارة أجرة نيويورك الصفراء المشهورة متجهة إلى مبنى الإمباير، وهناك التقيت بصديق حميم أعرفه منذ صغري أسمه خالد
"قلت له: " هيا نذهب معاً إلى الطابق الأخير باستعمال المصعد الكهربائي، ما رأيك؟
"أجاب: " سألتقي بك في الطابق الأخير ولكن باستعمال الدرج، لأنني أخاف بأن يقف المصعد ونحن بداخله
- "! لا لن يقف المصعد ونحن فيه، لا تكن طفلاً "
- . " هذا شعوري يا سمر، إلى اللقاء"

صعدت في المصعد الكهربائي وحدي، وكبست زر الطابق الأخير وأخذني إليه و فجأة، سقط المصعد إلى الطابق الثالث ووقعت هناك. كنت عالقة في المصعد و لم أعرف ماذا أفعل! أول شيء فعلته أنني صرخت ولكنهم لم يسمعوني. حاولت استعمال الهاتف الذي في المصعد ولكنه لم يعمل، كنت خائفة جداً! ولكنني تذكرت أن الهاتف النقال معي وكنت أريد أن اتصل بالمبنى، ولكن كان الإرسال سيئاً جداً وكانت البطارية ضعيفة
بدأت الآن أرتعب! و بدأت في البكاء وجلست على هذا الحال لمدة ساعة. وتوقفت عندما جاء رجال الحريق وفتحوا الأبواب
"قالوا لي: " آنسة، هل أنت بخير نحن متأسفين لهذا التأخير والتعطيل
"قلت: " شكراً لإنقاذي، الحمد لله
أخرجوني من المصعد وذهبت إلى خالد وقلت له القصة وتأسفت له
"قال لي: " سمر، يمكن هذا كان عقاباً من الله لأنك كنت تسخرين بي، ولكنني سأسامحك
تعلمت ألا أسخر بالناس لأنني سأعاقب. وشعرت بأنني محظوظة عندما خرجت من المصعد لأنني لو بقيت بداخله فأني سأتوفى

تناول السيرة الذاتية لجوانب حياتك منذ ولادتك حتى الآن

السلام عليكم ،هل تريدون أن تتعرفون علي؟ اقرأوا الموضوع التالي وستعرفون كل شئ عن حياتي.اسمي سمر الأنصاري وأنا في الصف الثاني الإعدادي ،وعمري ثلاثة عشر سنة . ولدت في مستشفى السلمانية في المنامة البحرين في الرابع من ابريل عام 1988 م. عدد أفراد أسرتي خمسة أفراد وأنا آخر فرد بينهم
عندما كنت صغيرة ذهبت إلى مدرسة سانت كريستوفر وبعدها ذهبت إلى مدرسة ابن خلدون الوطنية منذ صف الحضانة. أحب الذهاب إلى السيف لكي أتسوق وأتسلى مع صديقاتي ،وأحب الذهاب إلى السعودية لأن معظم أفراد عائلتي موجودة هناك. كما أني أحب الذهاب إلى لندن لأنني أحب التسوق هناك،وأحبها لأنها مسلية. لدي هوايات كثيرة فأنا أحب التنس لأنها لعبة مسلية وتحتاج إلى تركيز ،وأحب استعمال الحاسوب خاصة الإنترنت لكي أرسل البريد الإلكتروني إلى الأصدقاء والأقارب. لعبة أحب ممارستها كثيرا هي لعبة كرة القدم ،لأنني أحب أتعامل مع زملائي كفريق ، وأحب أن أكون في دور الدفاع. مشاهدة التلفزيون من أفضل هواياتي، فإنني أفرح كثيرا عندما أشاهد برامجي المفضلة. عندما أكبر أريد أن أكون سيدة أعمال، فإنني أحب التعامل مع النقود وأنا متفوقة في مادة الرياضيات. كما أنني أريد أن أملك متجري الخاص ،وأفتح فرعا لمتجر "جاب" الأمريكي في البحرين. كما أريد أ ن أحرر فلسطين، منذ أن كنت صغيرة كنت أريد تحريرها ،ولكنني أعرف أن هذا لن يتحقق ،ولكن في التعاون أي شئ بإمكانه الحصول
مثلي الأعلى أمي ، وأنا معجبة بها وبقدرتها أن تعمل خارج المنزل وبنفس الوقت تقوم بتدريسنا وتشرف على أمور البيت ، أتمنى أن أكون مثلها عندما أكبر. أعز صديقة لي صديقتي لطيفة المعراج فنحن الاثنان لدينا نفس الهوايات ومستوانا في المدرسة متقارب. لوني المفضل اللون الأزرق ،لأنه مثل لون السماء وهو لون يفرح الناس ولا يحزنهم مثل اللون الأسود. وأفضل طعام لدي "الهمبرغر"لأنه يحتوي على تنوع من الأطعمة كالخضروات، الخبز،اللحم، الخ
عندما قرأت هذا الموضوع استنتجت إنني راضية عن نفسي، وأنا شاطرة في المدرسة، وعندي الكثير من الأصدقاء، وحياتي مسلية. ولكنني أيضا استنتجت أنني أستطيع أن أكون أهدأ في الصف لكي أحسن شخصيتي

Fascism

Fascism’s rise to power in Italy and Germany in the inter war years largely resulted from the consequences of the First World War”. To what extent do you agree with this verdict?

After enduring the hardships of war, participants are affected immensely concerning all aspects of their lives. Having been physically, psychologically, and economically affected, civilians are often left weary in search of an answer to all of their problems. Civilians want an end to all their suffering, thus they turn away from the turbulent political regimes that they blame for the hardships they endured. WWI had drastic effects on all of the countries involved, but it had immense psychological, economical, and hence political consequences on Italy and Germany.
After WWI, both the Italians and the Germans felt an extreme sense of loss both tangibly and intangibly, however the Germans more so than the Italians. The Germans having literally lost the war, returned to Germany to find economic losses among personal losses that only added to their hardship. Their morale was already low, however when the German government officially ended the war by signing a treaty, an overwhelming sensation of betrayal and indignation swept through Germany. The Germans felt that their government had ‘sold out’ too quickly and that all their war efforts were gone to waste. This was an extreme blow to German pride, which was only intensified after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The TOV placed the blame solely on German soldiers making them pay reparations adding up to obscene amounts of money. This infuriated the Germans as they saw that TOV was unjust to them, not only did they have to pay for the war with the lives of the thousands of soldiers who died, but they now had to literally ‘pay’ for the war. In addition, land was taking away from the Germans, hurting their pride even more. The Germans were treated outcasts as they were excluded from the League of Nations, increasing their sense of anger and betrayal towards the Weimar Republic, whom they blamed for signing the TOV.
During the post war years, the worsening of the economic conditions in Germany was intensified with the Great Depression of 1929. Six million people were unemployed in Germany at the peak of the depression, leading to even more resentment to the Weimar Republic. Soldiers who felt that they have fulfilled a duty to their country, where betrayed to find a jobless Germany awaiting them. The Germans continued to suffer after the War, and as after any war, turned to their government, the Weimar Republic, for assistance and security only to find worsening prospects awaiting them. The Weimar Republic was incapable of being the strong, forceful government that could unleash rapid change that could end German suffering. The Germans needed consolation for the hardships they endured during the war, but instead they were presented with other hardships. Many began to reminisce on Germany at is prime, especially the German youth and elders, hoping to restore national pride once again. Thus when Hitler’s forceful, extremist fascist party emerged, it seemed to provide the Germans with an answer to their problems.
Hitler’s fascist party themselves felt immensely betrayed by the Weimar Republic and thus their primary goal was to restore the German national pride that was usurped from them. Filled with contempt and resentment to the Weimar Republic, the Fascist party preached a return to Germany’s days of glory, thus helping mend the German wounds caused by betrayal. The German fascists spoke the language of national unity that the Germans were in desperate need for. In addition, they preached economic revival that would significantly decrease the unemployment rate. Most importantly, the Nazis strong, forceful rule provided the security and control the Weimar Republic was unable to provide the Germans with.
Although Italy emerged out of the war victorious, it really was not. The main reason Italy entered the war in the first place was to gain land, but however the TOV did not give the Italians the land they were promised with. Thus similar feelings of German betrayal and indignation swept through Italy as well. The Italians felt that the war ended unjustly and that they were ‘cheated’ out of a deal they were promised with; the Italian national pride was hurt. Italians felt that they were betrayed by their government and the Allies leading to contempt and resentment.
Following the War, inflation rates increased dramatically in Italy leading to a major increase in unemployment. Thus when soldiers returned to Italy in search for jobs and comfort, they were extremely disappointed. Not only were they unable to find jobs, but due to the worsening economic conditions, the level of social spending declined leaving the sick and hurt civilians even more affected. In addition, the war led to the worsening of the Italian trade sector, creating even more unemployment. The Great Depression further intensified this economic downturn. Exhausted by their war efforts, the Italians looked for strong leadership that could relieve them of their hardship. They needed someone to create jobs, they needed someone to restore order, they needed to be unified.
They needed the strong, forceful party that Mussolini offered. Mussolini’s fascists offered national revival accompanied with discipline. Mussolini’s fascists promised to restore order to a troubled Italy. Italy at this time was like a lost child, and Mussolini’s fascists acted as a strong father figure that could lead Italy into the light.
Both Mussolini and Hitler played on the worsening post war conditions to succeed. Hitler gave the Germans what they wanted to hear; Hitler blamed others for the hardships Germany endured. He blamed the Weimar Republic for the TOV, the communists for the way the war ended, and the Jews for the worsening economic conditions. As for Mussolini, he played on the feelings of betrayal by appealing to the conservatives. Depression usually produces political extremism on both the right and the left, but the fascists managed to emerge due to the forceful rule that promised to end the suffering of their people.

Reoccurring Motif Commentary

One of man’s many flaws is not taking responsibility for his actions. Man is selfish, and does what is best for him at all times. Man will do nothing to jeopardize his pleasant “reality”. John Steinbeck criticizes this flaw, by including it in Of Mice and Men as a reoccurring motif through the characters of Lennie and George, the men of the ranch, and Curly’s wife. In Of Mice and Men, the characters escape responsibility in order to hide the unpleasant mess of reality.

George and Lennie never take responsibility for their actions; they just escape when faced with trouble. In Weed, when Lennie was accused of harassing a girl, George and Lennie didn’t stay and face the accusation, on the contrary, they ran away in search for new lives. This mentality of escaping responsibility suits their lifestyles perfectly though, for they are constantly on the go because of being migrant workers. George makes it very clear to Lennie that he should escape if ever faced with trouble: “Lennie – if you just happen to get into trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here and hide in the brush” (Steinbeck, 15). It is highly possible that George developed this way of thinking because Lennie is not capable of taking responsibility for his actions, because most of the time he doesn’t even know what he’s doing wrong. George seldom gets into trouble, so he is never tested on this matter. Throughout the entire novel, Lennie has been hiding things, hidden, or trying to be hidden. Lennie’s rough handling of animals, led to many of their deaths, which Lennie would try to cover up. Lennie does this because of fear. He is scared of George, because George has warned him time and again to be gentle with the animals. This fear is evident at the end of the novel, when Lennie hides Curly’s wife’s body because he was afraid of George’s reaction, on account of George’s previous warning. The animals that Lennie played with were not the only animals in this novel to be hurt, so was Candy’s dog.

Candy’s dog became old, stinky, and useless. But instead of growing old gracefully, he is killed. He is killed, because Candy was encouraged into getting rid of his dog by the men of the ranch: “He’s all stif with rheumatism. He ain’t no good to you, Candy. An’ he ain’t no good to himself. Why’n’t you shoot him, Candy?” (44). All the men complained of the dog’s foul odor, but instead of doing something about it and coming up with a helpful solution, they decide to kill the dog. They want to escape this “inconvenience”. These men only do what is best for themselves, they do not care what is in their path. And one of the ways in which they better their lifestyles, is to escape the things in their lives leading to inconvenience, or trouble. Candy has had the dog for a very long time, but suddenly because the dog has grown old; it is now a hassle to the men of the ranch. A dog is like a member of a family. When one of the members of your family gets sick or old, it is your responsibility as a member of that family to care for that particular member, especially if you are that member’s superior. But the men of the ranch wanted to rid themselves of the dog, so they persuaded Candy that it was better off to kill the dog. All the men of the ranch wanted, was an escape from the dog’s presence. They wanted to wash their hands clean of the old, such as Curly’s wife did with her old life.


Curly’s wife wanted to be an actress. She was promised a letter by a local agent that she never received. Her journey of fame had ended before it even begun. But instead of taking responsibility for her actions, and picking up the shattered pieces of her life, she decided to escape her current situation. She achieved this by marrying the first man who came along: “Well, I wasn’t gonna stay no place where I couldn’t go nowhere or make something of myself, an’ where they stole your letters. I ask her if she stole it, too, an’ she says no. So I married Curly. Met him out to the Riverside Dance Palace that same night” (88). The fact that she married the first man who she met clearly shows her need to escape. She was only attracted to one thing in her husband, the fact that he provided her with an escape. The accusation she threw at her mother of stealing the letter shows that she doesn’t want to take responsibility for her actions; she is just blaming other people. Curly’s wife couldn’t stand the fact that her dream wouldn’t be fulfilled. Instead of dealing with it like a mature adult, she escaped her life, and started a new one.

The characters of Of Mice and Men escape responsibility by hiding the unpleasant mess of reality. This motif, is exhibited through Lennie and George’s need to escape, Candy and the ranch men’s escape of Candy’s dog, and Curly’s wife’s escape after her failure in the acting field. Steinbeck displayed this motif through characters in order to make it more personal, and easier to relate to. Man is a coward, and will always run away from his problems.

Alive in our hearts


هناك حيوانات مهدده بالانقراض، تحدث عنها، وعن أسباب تعرضها لذلك، وطرق حمايتها

لكل كائن حي أهمية على الأرض ويبين الله هذا في دورة الحياة. النبات يتغذى عن طريق الشمس والحيوانات تأكل ذلك النبات ونحن نأكل الحيوانات لو حصل أي شئ يغير هذه الدورة الكل سيدفع الثمن
يوجد الكثير من الحيوانات التي أصبحت معرضة للانقراض في وقتنا الحاضر فمنها : الباندا والغوريلا وأيضا الفيل .الباندا تتواجد في غابات الصين وبلدان أخرى في شرق آسيا ،والنمر يتواجد في غابات الهند ، و الغوريلا في غابات إفريقيا الممطرة ،والفيل في إفريقيا و آسيا. لو نحمي هذه الحيوانات وغيرها المعرضة للانقراض فسنستفيد نحن أيضا. حماية الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض لها فائدة جمالية ، فعندما تمتلئ الدنيا بالحيوانات سيكون المنظر جميلا جدا. مثلا الذي يجمل المناطق الصحراوية حيواناتها مثل الظبي والأرنب الخ. لو تلك الحيوانات لم تكن موجودة فالصحراء لا تساوي شيئا وأيضا حماية الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض لها فائدة اقتصادية ،فالكثير من السياح يذهبون إلى بلد ليروا الحيوانات فقط التي تتواجد في تلك البلدة ،ويزورون حدائق الحيوانات، فعدم وجود الحيوانات سيؤثر في اقتصاديات البلدة. ولها فائدة علمية أيضا، فنحن نقوم باختبارات وبحوث كثيرة على الحيوانات، لكي نختبر دواء، منتجات الخ.فنحن سنرجع للخلف بدلا من الأمام لعدم وجود الحيوانات. وأخيرا لها فائدة البقاء، فلو لم يكن هناك حيوانات كيف سنتغذى، فكلنا سنأكل النبات وكل النبات سينتهي، ونحن بحاجة إلى اللحوم. أسباب تعرض الحيوانات للانقراض كثيرة وهي: الصيد ،الكل يصيد الحيوانات كهواية أو لكسب الطعام ،وأصبح الصيد أسهل بكثير لوجود البندقية ،فعندما نصيد الكثير من الحيوانات يموت الكثير من الحيوانات التي تعيش في الغابات ،فنحن نقطع الأشجار لبناء البيوت أو صنع الأوراق الخ فالكثير من الحيوانات تخسر بيوتها والطعام فتقتل. وأيضا تحدث الحرائق في الغابات فتموت الحيوانات التي تعيش هناك.قتل الحيوانات لأخذ فروهم أصبح شيئا عاديا فيلبسها الأغنياء، وأيضا تقتل لأخذ أجزاء جسم الحيوان لكي يبيعوها مثل الفيل فيقتلونه لأخذ أنيابه للحصول على العاج. نستطيع أن نحمي الحيوانات المعرضة للانقراض بوضع قوانين لعدم الصيد والذي يصيد يجب أن يدفع غرامة. وأيضا انتشار محميات طبيعية في كل أنحاء العالم لكي تعيش الحيوانات هناك
أقترح على الجميع أن لا يصيدوا الحيوانات إلا لو اضطررنا وأن ننشر الوعي للرفق بالحيوان، وعدم صيدها.نصحنا الإسلام بالرفق بالحيوان لأنه الصديق العزيز للإنسان، فيجب أن نقتدي بالرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام ونساعد الحيوانات ونرفق بهم
