August Pain
And so again, August is here
without you, daughter dear
I hate it when it comes
as I hear September’s drums.
I stay all month in intense pain
despite the years, it doesn’t wane.
Though my pain is throughout the year
August’s is the most severe
Apprehensively waiting for the day
When you unexpectedly went away
Many years passed since you were gone
But the vivid memory is clear as the sun
August pain will never go
If anything, with the years it will grow.

Memory Lane
As I walk through memory lane,
I stumble over my joy and pain
Reminiscing on those beautiful days
when I was blessed in many ways,
Mostly when I had you around,
with your siblings safe and sound.
I also recall the day you were gone,
each horrible moment, one by one.
The years piled up since that day
when God decided to take you away.
Another anniversary is coming again,
precious daughter, I am dreading the pain.
Your absence will continue to break my heart
Until we meet again and never part.

Your Visit
You knew that your siblings had gone
Wanted me to know, there remained one
You felt the misery I was in,
Tapped my shoulder and raised my chin
Although I’ll try to describe
Your embrace and the associated vibe
I am sure I will definitely fail
And my words will not prevail
To portray the feeling I had
And how I was extremely glad
My blood started rushing through
The moment I dreamt of you
“I came from heaven all the way
To comfort you during this short
stay,
Let you know
that I care
And of your
suffering I am aware
Your
separation from us brings you pain
This happens to you time
and again
Mother, now,
it is time for me to go
But, I am always with you, that
you know”
I felt so different when I woke up
It was a trance that shook me up.

New Year
Here comes another year
Without you, daughter, dear.
I don’t look forward to a
new-year
Though with each one you are
here.
I am counting one by one
Since the year you had gone.
Years started to pileup,
And still more lineup.
As
I turn the calendar page by page
With
beautiful memories, I engage
In my heart and mind you are alive
Without it, I can’t another year
survive.

Your Presence
I felt your presence in my dream
It was so real. I was about to scream.
Although I didn’t see you at all
I heard your voice calming my soul.
Felt your loving embrace and
Your kisses all over my face.
You felt the heaviness in my chest,
After your siblings travelled and left.
You knew the sadness I was in
And the longing that penetrates my skin
Dear daughter, don’t leave me and go
The Lord will allow you time, I know.
Tell Him, “My mother’s broken heart
Weakens when she and my siblings part
Ask the Lord to prolong your stay
Not only in a dream but all day.”
“Mother, separation causes you pain
But be sure you would see them again.
For now I have to say goodbye
And back to my world fly.
I promise you that I will visit you soon
During the night, morning or noon.
We love you mother that you know
No matter where we are or places we go”.

Enjoy Your Children
Appreciate happiness
when it knocks at your door
since you would not know
what life has for you in store.
Take pleasure
in your children as they grow
Treasure every moment,
as one day they might go.
Don’t complain that they did
this or that, and
they don’t have time for you
but with their friends chat.
Don’t take it for granted that
they will be there as long as you live
God might decide to take,
as He decides to give
Listen to a bereaved mother,
who wished to have died
before she witnessed the day
she buried her own child.

My Address Book
I need to have another look
At my address book
Delete names of those gone
Out of my life, Dear one
Add others who I met
And my grief accept,
Came into my life, stood by my side,
Did not force my tears to hide.
Sadness will overwhelm my heart
As my address book will lose a part.

You Are Not The Only One
You are not the only
one suffering from loss
Or the first grieving
person I came across
Remember that we have
issues of our own,
Others had losses. You
are not alone.
How could she make such
a comment?
Was every word truly meant?
Grief is not a
competition. Why compare?
Her painful words were
so unfair.
Of my pain and loss, I
will no more speak
I realize that it makes
some freak.
I wish she never made
this remark
On my lonely path I
will embark.
