English Journal # 9

I completed 15 note cards! Yay….10 more to go for my research. I am reading James Rachel’s book The End of Life Euthanasia Morality. It’s kind of creepy, he’s a professor of philosophy, so he’s a bit weird. He’s saying stuff like why is death bad , it’s irrational to be scared of it. He says that we don’t understand death and killing, that in some circumstances killing is alright, what a nut head! He explained killing like it was driving , he said when we drive we learn rules, like stopping at a red light but sometimes we are in a situation which makes us not follow a rule, like if we followed a rule we could crash into another car. He said it was the same with killing; sometimes killing is the only way out. And he said that many people forbid euthanasia because of religious reasons. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism forbid killing or suicide while religions in the Far East allow it.
