SAMAR AL ANSARI AWARD

Ladies and Gentlemen…

Every year, the Samar Al-Ansari award is presented to two deserving students during the Honor Society Ceremony and during the Athletics Nights in memory of Samar Al-Ansari. The award recognizes students who excel in the fields of economics and athletics.

While many of us were not personally acquainted with Samar, she was part of the IKNS community from KG1 until her graduation in 2006. Much like the students behind me today, she was an honor society member who especially enjoyed her economics and athletics lessons. In many ways, Samar represents what IKNS hopes to foster in its students as they graduate. This award reminds us annually of what it means to be a high achieving student and an active participant in the school community.

In cooperation with the school, Samar’s very gracious parents established the Samar Al-Ansari award to honor their daughter’s memory within the school and recognize outstanding student in the field of economics. The student must embody the characteristics included in the IB learner profile and fulfill the criteria prescribed by the economics department, which include critical thinking and application of economic concepts and theory.

It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Randah Hamadeh, Samar’s mother, to present this year’s Samar Al-Ansari award in economics to Hala Jaaffar Said.

سمر في الجنة

 يا أم سمر، ابنتك في الجنة بإذن الله، لم تخافين؟

أدخلي السعادة والسرور إلى قلبك الحزين

" سمر حورية في الجنة إن شاء الله، " قولي آمين

لو بقيت على قيد الحياة لكنت عليها  تقلقين

"إن سرحت، تسألينها " بما تفكرين؟

" وإن خرجت، " إلى أين تذهبين؟

"أقلق عليك حتى إلى المنزل تعودين "

"توخي الحذر وانتبهي وانت تسوقين "

إذا حزنت وتضايقت عليها تحزنين

 وإن تألمت وكأن قلبك طعنته السكاكين

أعفتك من القلق والخوف عليها عبر السنين

فرحلت من عذاب الدنيا  إلى أرحم الراحمين

رحمها الله وبشرك بأنها من المختارين

. تحيطها الورود  وأنواع من الزهور والرياحين

إهداء من الروح التي لا تغيب " سمر "

وهمستْ لي السماء، أن قومي يا سمر
توضأتُ بالغيوم وزينت كتف روحي بوشاح القمر
وأتيتُ إلى الأرض أحمل باقتي إليك
لأقول: مبروك لك نجمتك " رنيم"
يا نبض روحي أخي " عمر"

ارى الخاتم  يزين معصمك

البسمة تضئ وجنتيك

والبريق يزين عينيك

السعادة  تعم أرجاء الدار

والفرح يكلل الحديقة والاسوار

حتى ولو من بعيد

تكسوني الغبطة والسرور

آه! ما أجمله من شعور

وجدت توأم الروح

وأصبح صدرك مشروح

اهلا وسهلا بانضمام رنيم

Alive in my heart

Some people may think that I am insane,

They probably did not have such a pain.

The pain of losing a daughter or a son

And that from your life your child is gone.

To wake up in the morning, day after day,

Asking, "Where is my daughter? Tell me, I pray"

Although I know she is in heaven above,

I do yearn to hold her and give her my love

She is alive every moment in my heart.

Wasn't she part of it from the start?
